VISION FOR LEARNING

K-12 Curriculum Planning with the Catholic World View

March 11, 2019
8:30 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

John Paul II Pastoral Centre
4885 Saint John Paul II Way Vancouver, BC V5Z 0G3

To continue to support teachers on the use of the CISVA Unit Planning Framework to ensure that all planning is done through the lens of a Catholic Worldview, we will provide a full-day “Training the Trainer” session on Monday March 11, 2019.

This year principals are invited and encouraged to attend with their schools’ trainer. This year’s sessions will include: Facilitated workshops led by Darryl DeBoer, Director of Learning for the Surrey Christian Schools, and will focus on inquiry learning as defined as “a seeking for truth by questioning”. Requiring more than simply answering questions or getting a right answer, inquiry is a mindset that espouses active, open-minded exploration of a meaningful question, problem, or issue. With a focus on Big Ideas, participating teachers will learn how to plan through the lens of inquiry. They will develop essential questions based on the Catholic World View that will drive student learning.

Attendees are expected to bring:

1. Portable digital devices (e.g. tablet, iPad, laptop, etc…)

2. Draft Unit Plans
