Here are your top priorities and Pro-D reminders for the month of JANUARY divided by two tabs. We’ve also included a tab to help identify who’s who on the Administrative Support Team!
PRIORITY |
DETAILS |
INDEPENDENT SCHOOL PRINCIPALS & SAFE SCHOOL COORDINATORS |
New Provincial School-Police Guidelines: Further to the recent announcement by the Ministers of Education and Public Safety and Solicitor General, new provincial school-police guidelines and quick reference tools are now available on the erase website. Maintaining School Safety: A Guide for School and Police Personnel supports B.C. schools and police partners in providing coordinated and effective responses to school safety incidents. Please review these resources and other important information in the Deputy Minister’s Bulletin – Independent Schools. |
CISVA EMPLOYEE COMPENSATION PACKAGE |
The Board of Directors has approved a new compensation package for all CISVA employees that covers the next 4 years. It includes an annual salary increase of 2.25%, changes to both the Principal and Vice-Principal salary scales to bring them both into alignment with the other, change to various leaves covering Special Leave, Paternity and Sick Days, increases to the TOC schedule and change of the Vision care benefit increasing the allowance from $250 to $300. Click here for full details and salary scales.

MINISTRY COMPLIANCE & RISK MANAGEMENT RESOURCES |
A new tab has been included in the intranet under the “Policy, Ministry Compliance & Risk Management” section entitled Ministry Compliance & Risk Management. The tab contains a detailed listing of the various compliance requirements for our schools mandated by either the Ministry of Education or are required as part of CISVA policy. The listing is intuitively grouped and contains the link to the underlying document and a short explanation of how it is to be used. It follows on from the compliance and risk management training provided for vice-principals and new principals provided by the Superintendent’s Office earlier in the year (and replaces the excel sheet distributed with these resources to participants.) Questions: contact mdonelson@cisva.bc.ca. |
RESPONDING TO SCHOOL EMERGENCIES: EMERGENCY HANDBOOK (2019) UPDATED RESOURCE |
This is an update to the earlier guide produced by the Society of Christian Schools of BC. This is an online version of the guide and contains a full set of appendices that schools can look to use in their overall emergency management. Note: this version replaces the earlier hard copy binder that was purchased for schools earlier. Principals are asked to ensure that they now reference and make use of this updated resource with their staff.
